It's time to get that rubber tube out again as Blink-182, coming off its best year ever, returns with a live album: The Mark, Tom & Travis Show (The Enema Strikes Back).
So, lube up, bend over, and say ΓÇ£ahhh,ΓÇ¥ because thereΓÇÖs a lot of material to pack in. The Mark, Tom & Travis Show (The Enema Strikes Back) is a 20-track collection of live versions of classic Blink-182 hits, never-before-released songs, a new studio track, and all the hilarious potty-mouthed one-liners a fan could want. The Digi-Pack CD features: "Dumpweed," "Don't Leave Me," "Aliens Exist," "Family Reunion," "Going Away To College," "What's My Age Again," "Rich Lips," "Blew Job," "Untitled," "Voyeur," "Pathetic," "Adam's Song," "Peggy Sue," "Wendy Clear," "Carousel," "All The Small Things," "Mutt," "The Country Song," "Dammit," and "Man OverboardΓÇ¥ (a new studio track).
The bandΓÇÖs popularity has steadily increased since its first MCA release, 1997's Dude Ranch, set the stage for its current success. By ΓÇÿ98ΓÇÖs end, they had emerged as one of the most popular pop-punk bands of the year: The album went platinum in the United States, with sales now platinum in numerous countries around the world. The year-end Billboard Airplay Monitor Report (BDS) stats indicated that "Dammit (Growing Up)" from Dude Ranch earned top spins at many key radio stations. For the year, the single was the Number Two most-played record on KROQ/L.A., Number One on KNDD/Seattle, Number Three most-played on WXRK/N.Y., Number Two on KITS/San Francisco, Number Three on WBCN/Boston, Number Two on CIMX/Detroit, and Number One on KEDJ/Phoenix.
Blink-182 took a break from the road after Christmas ΓÇÖ98 to begin pre-production for Enema Of The State, which was recorded from January to March 1999 in the bandΓÇÖs hometown of San Diego at Signature Sound. Taking the helm with production duties was Jerry Finn, whose previous credits include Green Day, Rancid, and FENIX*TX. Finn also produced The Mark, Tom & Travis Show (The Enema Strikes Back).
Enema Of The State shattered the standard that Dude Ranch set, with U.S. sales now quadruple platinum (with worldwide sales of six million copies)ΓÇönot to mention the CD has been hanging at the upper reaches of the Billboard Top 200 since its release (more than 70 weeks ago). The albumΓÇÖs three singles, ΓÇ£WhatΓÇÖs My Age Again,ΓÇ¥ ΓÇ£All The Small Things,ΓÇ¥ and ΓÇ£AdamΓÇÖs SongΓÇ¥ have dominated MTV, alternative, rock, and Top 40 radio.
Blink-182 recently appeared on the MTV Awards, where they performed "All The Small Things" and won best group video. Other honors include a Teen Choice Award and a Blockbuster Music Award. TheyΓÇÖve performed on Saturday Night Live and the Tonight Show (twice), appeared in American Pie, and opened the Billboard Music Awards. The band has also graced the covers of Rolling Stone, Alternative Press, Teen People, Album Network, and HITS and will appear on the cover of December 2000's Teen.
Their summer tour, The Mark, Tom & Travis Show, where the live CD was recorded, sold substantially more than 350,000 tickets. Finally, that experience will be brought to hundreds of thousands more.
